Tips to write an argumentative essay

I am going to be sitting the GAMSAT (which contains two thirty minute timed essays, one argumentative, one personal) in a month and reading a lot about essay writing, and so what I am querying is: does your refutation not need to be strong or even particularly logical? Can it even include logical fallacies and examples of Black Swan Theory? Additionally, are these sorts of things overlooked (partially at least) in timed essays due to the rushed nature?
