Make your own custom-printed books

This is often where Big Six Publishers, as well as small publishing houses and Indie Authors, go wrong—a fatal mistake. Spend time formatting your Ebook (tools/Software below), because in the longrun, you’ll likely sell more Ebooks the Print Books. Nothing makes me “put down” an Ebook quicker than bad formatting.

Make your own book: Print a book. Writing books? Self publish a book!

The only problem with this site is you have to understand what you are doing. I didn’t and created a few failed pdf files. Which is no problem as you just start from scratch. It allows you to create a pdf file based on the number of signatures you have and the total number of pages in your book. It can also let you make a pdf file of a book based on a different way of putting the book together (not using signatures for example). By the way, your pdf file must be created with pdf version 1.4 or before (which is Adobe 5.0). So you may have to find a way to ‘downgrade’ your file if it has been created with Adobe 6 or above or with any of the pdf printers out there using the higher version (1.5 or 1.6). This is something I am looking into now, as I found the problem is now very common (who has such old software????)

This is why we decided to show you how to create your own book design and print it properly, to look as pro as you wish.

We specialize in publishing short runs (from 1 to 1000 books!), we offer custom covers and we feature full color printing. Your custom book can be made in standard sizes or custom sizes (up to 12"x12"). You can publish your own book with our Book Building Software or in any layout or program and we have a low minimum for reorders. ()Lastly you need to glue on a front cover and a couple of pages to the inside cover.

Steps:

1. Print and cut to size a picture of the front cover. You don’t have to use the one that came with the book – pricing your own and add images etc. If you can, use a guillotine to cut the paper to size.

2. Next you need to cover the cardboard showing on the inside of the cover. I just used a couple of images I found on the net and glued them into place. Use the spray glue for both the front cover and the inside images.

The second method is print-on-demand (POD). With POD you avoid investing money upfront because books are not printed until they are sold; you only pay for the books you sell. The downside is that the cost per book is higher, and your profit is lower. The POD company will also ship your books. Some publishers believe that this built-in fulfillment more than makes up for the extra expense of POD as compared to offset printing. Once your title is set up, there’s nothing further to do except review the monthly deposits to your bank account.
