The complexity is said to exist, for example, in large organizations dealing with multiple competing projects while at the same time performing their regular operations. The concept of organizational design refers to both the resulting organization (the thing) and the process of performing the design. The field of project management has made many theoretical contributions to organizational design; yet it has also created confusion by introducing a plurality of terms for describing and understanding such organizations.

We're about to start using JIRA and need to figure out about how we will deal with project management. To put some context, we're a multidisciplinary engineering team (software/hardware/mechanical) and thus, we will one JIRA project for each different product (e.g. a mobile app, a FPGA core, some mechanical module, etc.). Each of those projects will contain the feature requests, the bugs, etc. That's all fine.The vicious cycle of need-it-now deadlines or conflicting expectations and multiple demands doesn’t have to continue.
