College Entrance Essay (FIT) - With A Free Essay Review

You may still be asking, but how do I start? What is the school really looking for? Allow me to reveal the answer to that question: there really is no right answer. The ultimate goal of a college application essay is for the school to get to know you better and determine if you’re a good fit and vice versa. As a transfer student, admission counselors want to know why you want to transfer to their institution specifically. This should free you up to get creative and also feel comfortable in answering the essay prompt in a way that will truly showcase who you are and what you would bring to the institution.

My FIT College Essay:

There is a woman I cannot wait to meet. She is loving, caring and loves to sing. She sings sweet harmonic melodies of the deep and rich colors she sees. She sings of every detail and design, the simplest things. This woman finds the beauty in everything. She could pick up an old ordinary or wounded leaf, admire it for days and create something special from it. I cannot wait to meet this woman with the voice of beauty because she sees the children of our country and their promise to our world. She sees trends, predicts the future and knows that only few will find their passions and make their grandest dreams come true. While this is great, it leaves most others quite blue; not everyone is guided towards what it takes to make it in this world and may face poverty or other forms of suffering. When I meet this woman, I’ll ask her how does she do it, how does she lead such a wonderful creative team and use the corporate world to invigorate the less fortunate part of society?

New York City’s Fashion Institute of Technology stands out to me because going here would lead me into this woman's life. FIT is a SUNY school and will allow me to start studying what I know I have a passion for right away. I know FIT is a much more creative place than any ordinary university. I see myself at FIT finally doing what I love and just enjoying it because I know what it is like to face adversity and still have dreams. I am one of those children in that woman's life and I want to help others like myself through knowledge of advertising. I only know so much through my parents and creative mind; I am ready to challenge myself by broadening my knowledge through experience. Studying at FIT will prepare me to achieve my dreams just as preparation made this woman so successful and accomplished. But who is this woman? She is the future version of me going to FIT.

Think about the college essay as an interview in essay format. The essay should say, I am a good fit for this college. The essay is a student's chance to tell who they really are in their own voice. It should reveal something about the applicant that is not in the application. It can zero in on a single experience or moment in time that changed the applicant or be about something broader and the influence it has on the student. The essay should show self-reflection, critical thinking, and your ability to organize your thoughts. The first paragraph is the most important. It should grab the reader's attention and draw them in. Writing in a conversational tone is engaging. Spend time brainstorming topics and writing a number of drafts. You may even change your topic more than once as you figure out what works. Starting with an outline makes the writing process easier. Remember to proof read more than once and have at least one or two additional sets of eyes look it over.
